The Upsilonite Federation (commonly referred to as Upsilon) was a short-lived interstellar nation founded by KaliKaliMari and Orius. Its citizens identified themselves as Upsilonites, Achlyn, or Kenshin, reflecting different cultural or historical identities within the federation.

Upsilon is considered a defunct nation, with little to no prospect of revival due to long-term inactivity.

Appearance

The current flag of Upsilon features a pointed star symbolizing a defensive phalanx. The stripes on the right are inspired by the atmospheric banding of the original Upsilon brown dwarf. The central stripe represents molten resources and industrial forging, while also referencing the “central hot band” characteristic of brown dwarfs.

History

The Upsilonite Federation emerged as a successor state to several previously failed nations. From its founding, the federation struggled to establish a consistent national identity, undergoing a short but notable identity crisis caused by indecision from its primary founder, KaliKaliMari. This resulted in frequent shifts in direction and organizational focus.

In its early years, Upsilon was centered on Achlyr (73-3), then known as Kensho. During this period, the federation possessed minimal infrastructure and a small population. These limitations led to the rejection of Upsilon’s application to the U.I.N., representing an early diplomatic setback.

Following a false alarm involving the so-called “30k bug,” Achlyr was abandoned. The federation briefly relocated to 80-2, which served as a temporary place of exile. Continued inactivity and population loss soon rendered Upsilon nonfunctional as an active nation.

A later attempt to revive the federation occurred on 830-1, where the settlement of Hematropolis was established. This revival was short-lived, as much of the federation’s infrastructure was lost due to improper saving, leading to the collapse of this final effort.

Despite the nation’s effective dissolution, a space station constructed at 830-1 remains one of the last legitimate structures directly tied to the Upsilonite Federation. Although the station was completed late in Upsilon’s existence and now functions as a collaborative installation involving multiple players and nations, including Senno, it is widely regarded as part of Upsilon’s legacy.

Today, the Upsilonite Federation is largely abandoned, with only a single remaining member—the original founder. As a result, Upsilon is considered a defunct state, preserved primarily through its remaining structures and historical records rather than active participation.

Current Statistics

  • Current members: 1
  • Peak membership: Approximately 16
  • Status: Inactive / defunct

Planets

  • 73-3 (Achlyr): The original homeworld of Upsilon. It was abandoned following a false alarm involving the “30k bug.” At the time, the planet was known as Kensho.
  • 80-2: Served as a temporary place of exile after the abandonment of Achlyr.
  • 830-1: The origin of the name Upsilon. The planet currently hosts a collaborative space station shared between multiple players and nations, including Senno. Its settlement, loosely described as a city, was known as Hematropolis, though its flag has been lost.

Foreign Relations

  • Senno: Relations were historically positive. Chip, co-founder of Senno, publicly stated that he “liked this faction,” suggesting amicable ties during Upsilon’s active period.
